Indian Bank’s official deposit-rate page shows a bulk term-deposit rate card for amounts of ₹3 crore to ₹5 crore as on 4 November 2026. For a one-year deposit, the published annual rates are 6.00% for callable and 6.05% for non-callable deposits. The page also requires Treasury Branch approval for bulk deposits of ₹3 crore and above, a practical control for staff handling large-value customer deposits.
What the 4 November rate card says
Indian Bank’s official “Deposit Rates” page labels its bulk term-deposit table “Revision of Interest Rates for Bulk Term Deposits (Rs.3 Cr – Rs.5 Cr) as on 04.11.2026”. It distinguishes callable deposits, for which premature withdrawal rights depend on the product conditions, from non-callable deposits, which have more restrictive withdrawal terms. The two columns must not be treated as interchangeable when explaining deposit options to customers.
The selected entries below reproduce the published annual percentage rates. They are not a comparison with the bank’s earlier rate card, which was not established in this review.
| Deposit tenure | Callable (% per annum) | Non-callable (% per annum) |
|---|---|---|
| 7–14 days | 4.50 | 4.50 |
| 46–90 days | 5.00 | 5.05 |
| 91–120 days | 5.25 | 5.30 |
| 181 days to less than 9 months | 5.50 | 5.55 |
| 1 year | 6.00 | 6.05 |
| Above 1 year to less than 2 years | 6.00 | 6.05 |
| 2 years to less than 3 years | 5.50 | 5.50 |
For other tenures, including the periods not reproduced in this table, staff should consult the complete bank-published grid instead of extrapolating a rate.
Approval and aggregation rules matter to branch staff
The bank’s public page says the interest rate and approval for bulk deposits of ₹3 crore and above must be obtained from the Treasury Branch. The page also applies this requirement when one customer’s deposits placed on a day aggregate to ₹3 crore or more. For rate determination, deposits of an identical tenure placed on the same day are considered in aggregate.
That means a branch dealing with a large deposit enquiry should check the customer’s total same-day placements and the applicable tenure before communicating a definitive rate or booking a deposit. This article does not replace the bank’s internal processing instructions or create a new approval mechanism; it reports the condition already displayed on the official rate page.
Fresh deposits, renewals and additional interest
Indian Bank states that revised rates on domestic term deposits apply to fresh deposits and renewal of maturing deposits. A revised card rate does not, merely by being posted, reprice an existing fixed-rate deposit that has not matured.
The same page says bulk deposits opened in a day for ₹3 crore and above are not eligible for an additional rate of interest. Staff should not extend the separate retail senior-citizen or staff-deposit provisions to a bulk deposit without an applicable rule. Specific product conditions and any later bank instructions must still be checked.
What this means for bankers
- Customer communication: distinguish callable from non-callable terms, and quote the correct tenure-specific annual rate.
- Branch controls: check Treasury Branch approval and aggregation of customer deposits when the ₹3 crore threshold is relevant.
- Renewals: use the applicable rate on renewal rather than assuming a current card rate changes an existing contract.
- Accuracy: do not claim that deposit-rate updates change employee pay, pension or staff service conditions; no such change is established here.
This report describes the official page as inspected on 5 November 2026. Bankers should consult the live rate card and applicable bank instructions again before finalising a large-value deposit transaction.
