Two Chhattisgarh Gramin Bank employee organisations have asked State Bank of India’s vigilance authorities to examine disciplinary proceedings affecting a union office-bearer. The organisations allege victimisation in a representation dated 28 October 2026; the allegations have not been established by an independent finding or verified management response.
What the two organisations allege
The Chhattisgarh Rajya Gramin Bank Employees Association (CRGBEA) and the Chhattisgarh Rajya Gramin Bank Officers’ Organisation (CRGBOO) reportedly wrote to the Additional Chief Vigilance Officer of State Bank of India (SBI) on 28 October 2026. Their letter, numbered JF/95/2026-27, seeks examination of disciplinary proceedings involving a union office-bearer and a broader review of similar complaints. The account was reported by Kanal.
The organisations say a Statement of Imputation of Lapses dated 6 October 2026 followed an 11 August union representation concerning overtime allowance and other employee benefits. They dispute the circumstances of the disciplinary action and allege that legitimate trade-union activity may have been treated unfairly. These are allegations presented by the organisations, not findings of misconduct by Chhattisgarh Gramin Bank management.
What review has been requested?
According to the report, the unions asked SBI’s vigilance authorities for an appointment, scrutiny of the 6 October proceedings, consideration of other complaints of selective treatment and safeguards for fair consideration of staff representations. The letter refers to a prior appointment request dated 8 April 2026. Copies were reportedly forwarded to officials at the Department of Financial Services, NABARD and the bank’s governing institutions.
The difference between a notice and a finding
An imputation notice concerns allegations within a disciplinary process; it is not itself proof that the employee committed misconduct. Equally, the unions’ description of the proceedings as victimisation does not establish that the employer acted improperly. The underlying service-regulation provisions, complete case records, management explanation and any decision of the vigilance authority were not independently obtained for this report.
Current status for employees
No final disciplinary decision, cancellation of the notice, government intervention or finding against any party has been verified. What is established from the inspected reporting is that the unions have sought review. A future management or vigilance reply, formal order or adjudication would constitute a meaningful update. This case concerns Chhattisgarh Gramin Bank (RRB05) and cannot be treated as proof of conditions at every RRB.
