State Bank of India has revised education and experience criteria for four senior AI and analytics positions under its fixed-term specialist recruitment. Its 4 November 2026 corrigendum also extends the online application deadline from 9 to 16 November.
SBI issues a formal eligibility revision
State Bank of India issued an official corrigendum dated 4 November 2026 to its 19 October fixed-term specialist-cadre recruitment advertisement CRPD/SCO/2026-27/30. The document revises academic qualifications for specified senior artificial-intelligence and analytics posts, adjusts the wording of certain experience requirements and extends the online application window. It is a recruitment correction, not a change to the bank’s internal promotion rules.
Four senior AI and analytics posts covered
The amended academic criteria apply to General Manager and Chief AI Officer, Deputy General Manager (Risk and Operational Analytics), Deputy General Manager (AI Governance and Compliance), and Deputy General Manager (Data Engineering, Model Application Development and AI Operations). SBI retains recognised engineering and technology, statistics and MCA qualifications and explicitly adds M.Sc. (Economics) and M.A. (Economics) to its list of educational alternatives. The exact educational route and every other condition must be checked against the complete advertisement.
Experience remains mandatory
For the General Manager and Chief AI Officer position, the minimum 15-plus years of experience remains, along with at least three-plus years of senior leadership involving AI, analytics, model oversight, governance and business transformation. The amended sector wording says experience preferably in banking, banking and financial services, or the IT sector. It does not waive the senior leadership and multi-stakeholder requirements.
For the DGM (Data Engineering, Model Application Development and AI Operations) position, the minimum 10-plus years of experience and at least two-plus years of relevant senior leadership remain. Here too, the sector description changes to ‘preferably’ in banking, financial services or IT. It would be inaccurate to suggest that all DGM posts have identical experience conditions.
New closing date: 16 November
Under the corrigendum the last day of online application moves from 9 November to 16 November 2026. SBI states that the other terms and conditions of its 19 October notice remain unchanged. The official SBI current-openings webpage links both the original notice and the revised document.
What this means for banking professionals
The update is relevant to experienced specialists in AI governance, risk analytics, data engineering and bank technology. The additional Economics postgraduate routes may broaden the set of eligible applicants, subject to the mandatory experience conditions. These are fixed-term appointments; the notice does not create a regular promotion route or guarantee a position for existing bank staff. Interested candidates should check the original notice, the corrigendum and any subsequent official amendments, rather than relying on a forwarded summary.
