A State Bank of India branch manager has reported an alleged assault and threats at a petrol pump in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, following a dispute over the quantity of fuel supplied on 31 October 2026. Police say a complaint has been registered and CCTV footage is being examined. The allegations have not been established by a court.
Reported dispute at a petrol pump
A branch manager of State Bank of India (SBI) has complained of being assaulted and threatened during a late-evening visit to a petrol pump in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh. According to local reporting published by Amar Ujala at 1:37 AM IST on 6 November 2026, the alleged incident occurred at around 10 PM on 31 October at a petrol pump in the Jhokanbag area under Nawabad police station.
The manager told police that he questioned the amount of petrol put into his motorcycle. According to his complaint as reported by the newspaper, a disagreement followed, several pump workers allegedly joined in and the group assaulted him and threatened him if he approached the police. These are the complainant’s allegations, not findings established after a trial.
Police investigation and evidence
The newspaper quoted Nawabad police station in-charge Ravi Shrivastava saying that a report had been registered and an investigation was underway. Police were examining CCTV footage from the petrol pump. No FIR number, arrest, police chargesheet, independent medical conclusion or judicial finding was available in the reporting reviewed for this article.
The manager’s SBI affiliation is reported, but the specific bank branch and any connection between this dispute and his professional duties were not established. The incident arose from a personal fuel-purchase dispute away from the bank premises.
Why the incident matters to bankers
A reported assault involving a serving bank manager is relevant to the banking community even when it takes place outside the workplace. The present evidence does not support suggesting that SBI management, branch operations or work targets caused the episode. The bank has not been identified as a party to the alleged dispute.
What is still not known
Whether the CCTV review corroborates either account, whether any accused persons are formally charged and the eventual outcome of the investigation remain unconfirmed. The complaint, the police response and any later legal finding should be kept distinct. Unnecessary private address details are not reproduced.
